Is Picco right for the way you read?

Start with your books and your habits. Picco makes sense when you want a compact device for text reading and are comfortable transferring supported ebook files.

• Where do you read? Picco is easy to bring along for short reading sessions away from your desk.
• Where do your books come from? Check that you can obtain an actual supported ebook file, rather than access only inside an app.
• How large do you like your text? Try your usual font size on a 3.97-inch screen. Larger text means fewer words on each page.
• What do you want to read? Novels, short stories and text-based reading suit this format better than large page layouts.
• What else do you need? If your priority is app-based library access, handwriting or large PDF documents, ask us about the appropriate BOOX model.

Small enough to bring along

Picco measures 105.5 × 62 × 5.5 mm and weighs approximately 58 g. Its 3.97-inch monochrome ePaper screen keeps the device compact. The optional Magnetic Case brings it together with a compatible magnetic phone or phone case.

Make the page comfortable for you

Adjust the light

Change the front-light brightness and colour temperature to suit your surroundings. Choose a cooler light or a warmer tone, and switch between light and dark reading modes.

Set your reading layout

Adjust the font, spacing and margins until the page feels comfortable. Anti-aliasing smooths the text on the 480 × 800 screen, which has a pixel density of 235 PPI.

Turn pages your way

Use the touchscreen or physical page-turn buttons. Rotate the reading view between four orientations to suit portrait or landscape reading and the hand you prefer to use. Set the Function Switch to control the front light or Dark Mode.

Your first book on Picco

Start with one EPUB file that you own or have permission to read, without copy protection that restricts it to a particular app (often called DRM-free). Complete a single transfer, open the book on Picco and adjust the text before adding the rest of your library.

1. Prepare Picco. Charge it, switch it on and follow the on-screen setup. Keep the included microSD card installed.
2. Choose a book. Save a supported ebook file to your phone or computer. EPUB is a useful starting format for reflowable text.
3. Choose a transfer method. Use the BOOX Tiles phone app, the web service or the web USB workflow described below.
4. Open the transferred book. Let the transfer finish, then check the book on Picco. Set the font size, light and page orientation.
5. Read a few pages. Try both touch and the page buttons. Once the first book works, bring over more titles.

What is BOOX Tiles?

BOOX Tiles is Picco’s companion service for transferring ebooks, images and fonts. Use it on your phone or through booxtiles.com. Picco also includes small tools such as Pomodoro, Todo and Countdown.

The web service presents options for Import books, Import wallpapers, Web links and Import fonts. Start with Import books, then explore personalisation after you have read your first title.

Method 1 From your phone

1. Obtain the official BOOX Tiles app using the guidance provided by BOOX or your device’s setup instructions. Check that your phone platform is supported.
2. Use the app to scan Picco’s pairing QR code and follow the connection prompts.
3. Select the supported book file saved on your phone and send it to Picco.
4. Wait for completion and open the book on the device.

Phone and web transfers can use the same Wi-Fi network, or the cloud when your devices are on different networks. Follow the sign-in and pairing prompts for the method you choose.

Method 2 Through your web browser

1. Open booxtiles.com on your phone or computer.
2. Sign in and connect or bind your Picco when prompted. For local Wi-Fi transfer, place your sending device and Picco on the same network.
3. Choose Import books and select your supported ebook file.
4. Follow the transfer prompts, wait for completion and check the book on Picco.

If the site reports that your browser does not support the local connection, use the browser it recommends. BOOX Tiles currently recommends an up-to-date Chrome or Edge browser for its web Wi-Fi connection.

Method 3 With a USB cable

1. Connect Picco to your computer using a USB-C cable that supports data transfer.
2. Open booxtiles.com and choose the USB transfer option.
3. Enable USB file receiving on Picco if prompted. The current BOOX Tiles guide describes Receive Files → USB → Enable USB File Receiving.
4. Select the BOOX TILE folder when the web tool asks you to choose the receiving location.
5. Select your book, complete the transfer and check it on Picco before disconnecting.

Use the BOOX Tiles transfer process for supported files rather than assuming that copying a file directly to the card will prepare it for reading. Follow the current on-screen instructions if labels change with a software update.

Personalise Picco after your first read

Your wallpaper

Use Import wallpapers to send a supported image. Try a favourite illustration, a simple photograph or a quote you have made yourself. Check how it looks on the monochrome screen before choosing it as your screensaver.

Your preferred fonts

Use Import fonts and follow the site’s supported-font guidance. Try the imported font on a short passage and adjust its size and spacing. Font files and language coverage vary, so check the text you actually want to read.

Web articles

The Web links option lets you submit article links for processing and transfer. Try one accessible article first and check the result. A web-link tool does not guarantee access to a paywall, a signed-in page or every website layout.

A small routine

Use Pomodoro for a timed reading or study session, Todo for a short list and Countdown for a date you want to remember. A practical first goal is one book and a few quiet minutes each day.

Where can I get my first ebook?

Begin with a compatible file you already own, a file offered directly by its author or publisher, or a classic from Project Gutenberg. Download an EPUB to your phone or computer, then transfer it through BOOX Tiles. Check the source’s permissions and local copyright status before downloading.

A store account or reading subscription is different from an ebook file. If your titles are only accessible through Kindle, Kobo, Libby or eSentral, ask us to check the reading workflow before choosing Picco. A listed file extension, such as AZW or EPUB, does not by itself confirm access to an encrypted purchase or library loan.

Questions before you pre-order

Will my existing ebooks work?

Check the file format and whether the publisher permits access outside its app. Start with a DRM-free EPUB and one test transfer. Ask our advisor about the exact service or title you use.

Can I read PDFs?

PDF is not included in Picco’s supported document list, and BOOX’s product Q&A states that Picco does not support PDF. For a more affordable BOOX option that supports PDF, start with BOOX Go6 (Gen2) at RM899, currently with a free Black Magnetic Cover worth RM100. Its 6-inch screen offers more room than Picco, though A4 PDFs with small text or complex layouts may still need zooming. Ask our advisor to help assess your usual PDF documents before choosing.

Does Picco offer the same apps as an Android BOOX tablet?

Choose Picco for the BOOX Tiles file-transfer workflow explained here. The official Picco specification lists Pomodoro, Todo and Countdown; it does not advertise Google Play or installation of the Kindle, Libby or eSentral apps. If direct app access is essential, ask us about an Android BOOX eReader before ordering.

Is the Magnetic Case free with every Picco?

For this Malaysia pre-order promotion, a complimentary case is included with the first 30 Picco units pre-ordered during the period ending 31 October 2026. The case is not part of the standard box contents listed below.

Will it attach to my phone?

The case provides the magnetic ring. Check compatibility with your phone or phone case, particularly if it has no magnetic attachment system. Our advisor can help you assess your setup.

What support is available locally?
